Offsite Backups

The most common form of offsite backup is to ensure your last successful backup to tape is taken offsite by a member of staff. The data on the backup tape is usually unprotected (not encrypted), meaning that anyone who has the tape can gain full access to the data. It is also common for a junior member of staff to be given the mundane task of changing the backup tape and ensuring that it is taken offsite regularly. Once the data is offsite this person has the responsibility of protecting company data. Inquisitive minds can lead to mischief! Although the person looking after the tape may not have access to all company resources while on the network (because they don’t have permissions to certain folders), from tape they could gain access to all the unprotected data (such as salaries). Even worse, if the tape becomes lost or stolen then it could have a serious impact on your business without you knowing the source.

Many business owners aren’t given proper advice on how to protect their important data, leaving them wide open to risks.

We have solutions that not only encrypt your data to tape but advance your systems by eliminating the need for tape altogether. This is done by using automated offsite encrypted backups, thus eliminating the associated risks of data loss and data leakage.
